Europe Trip
04.13.05 (4:20 am)   [edit]

:D I haven´t been blogging for quite a while now.  Actually, I´ve been travelling quite a lot lately.  In February I had sort of mini job with Siemens Germany on freelance contract basis.  I had to take care their clients from Indonesia while they´re having business and pleasure trip in Europe

First I went to Berlin to meet up with the clients, they had to witness the acceptance test in the factory while I had to take the wife shopping in Berlin.  We went for a show and had sightseeing tour on the third day, we stayed in Berlin for four days and then we flew to Paris and Vienna for more sightseeing and shopping tours.  It was an interesting job for me, working but actually not really working……due to the weather condition in February I must say that it was really tough for me because I had to cope up with them….they all love shopping and so do I.

The picture´s taken at the Arabic Restaurant before going for a show at Friedrichstadt Palast Theatre in Berlin.  From left:  Mr. Widodo, Mr. Suwardi & wife Mrs. Nurul and me.

You can see it´s heavy snowing in Berlin, even Diana Lake was frozen and all white.  I wasn´t surprised if someone told me that we could walk on the water.

That´s the Parliament Building in Berlin, we managed to reach the summit of the building which everyone should do if you step into the building.  We´re very lucky because it was during week day and we didn´t have to queue long to get in.

One the highlights in Berlin is the Berlin wall, which everyone must go there the moment you arrived in Berlin.  So I´ve been there and done that!!!  The wall dissociate between East and West Germany, and to my surprise that the wall is just 9cm thick and not like what I´ve imagined before.

From Berlin we flew to Paris for a couple of nights and stayed quite in the middle of the city centre.  So we spent our first day in Paris by shopping at Galerie Lafayette opposite the Opera building (photo), which would be the best meeting point for everyone where all buses drop and pick up passengers.

For the second time...I was there again!!!  It´s like a must for everyone to be there (Eiffel Tower) as soon as you land in Paris.

We didn´t have patience enough to queue and climb the Eiffel Tower, so we had a boat tour for instead to enjoy the sceneries...furthermore we saved our energy for shopping.

that´s the Cathedral in Paris, picture´s taken from the boat.

One of the highlihts in Paris is their famous Museum, Louvre, which everyone should never missed it.  It´s not just all about visiting...you can find many shops along the way to the entrance of the Museum and you can easily get tired by shopping instead of enjoying the arts, believe me!!!

And then from Paris we flew to Vienna/Austria for another couple of nights.  We spent one whole day for sightseeing because all shops closed on Sunday within Europe country.  Basically Vienna is more cold and windy because it closer to the Alp.  It´s too cold for us and we didn´t even want to get out of the bus.

that´s the Kunsthaus (Artist House).

Mozart statue;  one of the specialities in Vienna is their classic Mozart music and Mozart chocolate balls, which anyone cannot resist.

After a long sightseeing tour we managed to find an Asian delicacies for recharge....yummy yummy....almost feeling like home.

my best pose at the restaurant nearby our hotel...last dinner together.

on the last day we decided to do our last minute shopping and spent all Euros before jetting off home.  yeah...travellers should always support the local economies by picking up a few things along the way.

Another best pose infront of Stadt Opera and managed to wear my sun-glass finally.  This is the point where you can change your bus to change your route.

People come and leave, but no one leave without buying extra luggage if you travel and shopping abroad.  Be careful you might have to pay extra for your overloaded baggages and may make no sense to pay EUR300 just for the 15kg extra chocolates & souveniors whereas you can get a lorry full of chocolates in your country, isn´t it?  So Mr. Suwardi and wife continued their journey to Amsterdam to visit their relatives and Mr. Widodo flew back to Jakarta.  And I flew back to Nürnberg, after two hours I was home again.

after much worrying about the extra baggages, we managed to check-in without paying single cents...that´s the last pose infront of the boarding gate and that´s the last time we saw each other.

After a week I received an email from Mr. Widodo saying they´re very happy to be in Europe along with my guidance.  Though it was far away from their family but they felt almost like home.

Overall, I was happy to take this job too....what a life!!!  Travel with business class flight and 5-star hotels plus some pocket money, where on earth I can get this kind of deal!!!
